Charity Cheque Presentation
LADY CAPTAIN PRESENTS CHARITY CHEQUE
Last week Lady Captain presented a Cheque for £3782.00 to representatives from The M.S. Society, Pauline Slatter, Lead Support Volunteer and Sara Woods, Secretary £2000 will be used for research into M.S. and the balance is being donated to the Local M.S. Branch.
This money was raised from three main events.
Lady Captains Charity Day which was eventually held in July after being postponed due to the Club redevelopment programme. The Ladies turned the Course, Clubhouse and themselves Orange and played 15 Holes of Golf. Non-playing members manned various stalls including Cakes, Books, Jewellery and Crafts. Lady Captain accidentally left her cakes on the stall and they were resold – so determined she was to make good money for her charity! There was also a Raffle and Quiz’s to have a go at. Over £1200 was raised on this day.
In October Lady Captain hosted a Charity Evening. After enjoying a glass of fizz on arrival, the evening started with a fashion show by Fuzzy Goose, introducing our very own models who, despite a few nerves, did a sterling job showing off the wonderful fashions. Models and audience had so much fun! There was an enjoyable performance by The Rock Choir. This event raised over £1300.
The Christmas Competition was followed by lunch and Lady Captain raffled 10 Hampers made up by the generosity of the Ladies. The raffle raised £687.
Lady Captain would like to thank everyone who has supported her Charity throughout the year helping to raise this magnificent sum to help a cause very close to her heart.

CAPTAIN'S AM-AM
Captains AM-AM
"I'm pleased to announce the event last Sunday was a tremendous success for charity with us raising £2,100. It was an enjoyable day in spite of the rain with some very good scores given the conditions. At one point my supposedly waterproof bag, was taking in water and the sausage roll I'd saved from the lodge was well and truly soggy!!I would like to say a big thank you to all of the members and guests who played in the Captains AM-AM, this was in aid my chosen charity " Prostate Cancer". Also thanks go to all the people that very kindly donated prizes for the raffle, auction or made a donation directly for charity. The auction raised over £1,100 with the Anthony Joshua boxing glove (donated by Mel Ince) and the corporate tickets for Manchester City (donated by Brian Hay) proving to be the most popular, both won by Andy Clarke .
These events take a lot of planning and effort to arrange, and I would like to thank John Roberts for his organisation in making this a very successful event. Also John Sullivan for his excellent and funny MC work at the presentation in the evening.
The presentation to the charity will be early in the New Year when we have the final amount raised.

In his wonderful and very humorous speech Sean thanked all the couples who they played throughout the competition. He thanked Claire for partnering him even though she had told him earlier in the year that there were loads of men wanting to play with her! I think Sean should count himself a very lucky man!. Congratulations to Sean and Claire who now go forward to play in the County Mixed Foursomes at Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club on Sunday 8th October 2017. Congratulations Sean and Claire.
THE GRUESOME GOBLETS were presented to Stephen and Rosa Sheard. The Goblets are won by the highest scoring couple throughout the season. This is the first year that Steve and Rosa have supported the mixed golf and I believe they are ‘hooked’. Well done Steve and Rosa. CLICK HERE FOR FULL RESULTS
